Tasting notes

A fresh ewes milk cheese, Olde York has a beautiful fresh, crisp, creamy taste that cleanses the palate leaving it refreshed. It slices straight from the fridge, and spreads easily at room temperature.

Olde York is made from pasteurised ewes milk and is suitable for vegetarians.

Background

Olde York, along with Yorkshire Fettle, made up our first range of cheeses back in the 1980s, and is still going strong.. Olde York is a soft white cheese made using the coulommier method. We layer the curds gently into the moulds and then leave them to set under their own weight. This produces a very delicate texture. When taken straight from the fridge Olde York slices or if allowed to warm it become spreadable and indulgently creamy! Olde York has won a string of awards over the years and when it was chosen to feature on the British Airways\' Concorde menu in the 90s, it really caught the public\'s attention. We wax Olde York to preserve its fresh flavour and texture - it remains a real favourite.
