Yorkshire's only blue cheese maker is launching a third blue cheese in their range called Buffalo Blue. Shepherds Purse has been successfully producing two blue cheeses, Mrs Bell's Blue made from ewes' milk and Yorkshire Blue made from cows' milk, from the Bells' farmhouse near Thirsk for several years and now as the company expands the new buffalo milk cheese is being launched.
The newcomer, Buffalo Blue, is a creamy blue cheese. 'Buffalo milk is easy to work with and the end product rich, creamy and moist.' says Judy Bell, head of the firm, who experiments with new developments and recipes in her farmhouse kitchen. 'We hope this third blue cheese will cement our reputation for excellence in blue cheese making.'
The new Buffalo Blue is officially being launched at the British Cheese Awards in Stow-on-the-Wolds in September where the complete range of Shepherds Purse's blue cheeses will be on display with over 600 cheeses from all over Britain.
