Northern Blue was launched in 2019 as the more powerful and more mature brother to Yorkshire Blue. Aged for a minimum of 10 weeks, we use a stronger strain of Penicillium Roquefort to achieve a more robust blue flavour. We took the launch batch to Bergamo in Italy to the World Cheese Awards and lo and behold we came back with a Silver medal! Northern Blue is recognisable as a Shepherds Purse signature blue cheese and we hope it’s extra strength will also please those who like a little more bite to their blue.
