Strong, steely and sweet, in other words, Northern! 

A powerhouse blue cheese with serious credentials. Deliciously creamy and luxuriously more-ish.

Northern Blue was launched in 2019 as the more powerful and more mature brother to Yorkshire Blue. Aged for a minimum of 10 weeks, we use a stronger strain of Penicillium Roquefort to achieve a more robust blue flavour.

We took the launch batch to Bergamo in Italy to the World Cheese Awards and lo and behold we came back with a Silver medal! Northern Blue is recognisable as a Shepherds Purse signature blue cheese and its extra strength will also please those who like a bit more bite to their blue.

Up the North

A smooth tasting blue cheese with a milder finish than, say, Harrogate Blue. Northern Blue is sweeter, but has the 'blue' character that Shepherds Purse imbue in all their cheese. We loved it and will buy again.

I thought that all the blue cheeses in our recent order were less mature than hitherto.
My wife continues to think that Northern Blue is too salty and would I remember not to re-order it? Your cheese is a delight so don't be down-heartened by this review.

Book club delight

I served some Shepherd’s Purse blue cheese at my book club and it was a great hit. A few people decided to order together and share to save postage.
