A smooth tasting blue cheese with a milder finish than, say, Harrogate Blue. Northern Blue is sweeter, but has the 'blue' character that Shepherds Purse imbue in all their cheese. We loved it and will buy again.
I really believe that no better blue cheese is being made in England than the Harrogate Blue. Many others are on a par but the creamy kick of the Harrogate Blue puts it right at the top of my favourites list.
I recently ordered a selection of four cheeses from Shepherd's Purse and received Northern Blue, Yorkshire Blue, Harrogate Blue & Bloomin White. I enjoyed all of them but I think the two stand out cheeses are Northern Blue and Yorkshire Blue. It is good to know that there are producers out there that really do care about what they are making. The range of cheeses is superb and we tried the organic Yorkshire Blue just for a change. We weren’t disappointed as it was as good as any of the cheeses we have purchased. Clearly the passion and expertise shines through their products & would thoroughly recommend them.

I purchased the Lavender Sheep’s cheese as a gift for a dinner at Fishmongers Hall, it was very well received and sent without any issues .
